What is a technical nurse in Peru?
In Peru, the nursing technician is a professional with higher technical training provided by an institute. Performs support activities in the comprehensive care of the patient, assists the health professional and participates in prevention, recovery and rehabilitation tasks under supervision. Their title and duties are different from those of a university licensed nurse.
What is its equivalent in Italy?
The closest Italian figure in terms of the type of care functions is usually the socio-health operator (OSS). However, “nursing technician” and OSS are not automatically equivalent titles. Nor is the Peruvian technical title equivalent by itself to the Italian profession of infermiere, which corresponds to a different health qualification.
Who determines the correspondence
The Italian Ministry of Health accepts applications for the recognition of foreign qualifications for the activity of social-health operator. The authority compares the level, duration, program, theoretical and practical hours and documented experience. The result may be recognition, compensatory action or denial.
