What accredits
The free status certificate certifies the current civil status declared or registered by the Italian authority. For civil marriage in Peru, it is usually requested as a certificate of singleness or equivalent document.
Where to get it
The Italian Embassy points out that the Italian citizen must apply for stato libero in the Commune of residence in Italy. If you reside abroad, it is advisable to confirm with the Comune and the Peruvian municipality which document corresponds.
Divorced and widowed
The free state may not be enough. The municipality can request the certificate of the previous marriage with the notation of the divorce, the decree or the death certificate of the spouse.
Validity and formalities
Many municipalities require recent and apostilled or legalized documents. Confirm the maximum age and type of translation before starting the process.
