Why should it be transcribed?
The death of an Italian citizen that occurred abroad must be transcribed in Italy. The consular office receives the foreign certificate and sends it to the Italian Commune competent to update the civil registry.
Original death certificate
The Italian Embassy in Lima requests the original Peruvian death certificate. Before apostilling it, it is advisable to carefully review names, surnames, place and date of birth and other registered information.
Apostille and translation into Italian
The item must be apostilled, translated into Italian by a sworn public translator or certified collegiate translator, and the translation must be apostilled in accordance with the Embassy's instructions.
Application and personal file
The file includes the request for a death transcript and the corresponding personal file. In the file of the deceased person, the date of death must be indicated in the space reserved for the photograph.
Presentation before the Embassy
The documents are submitted to the consular office of the Italian Embassy in Lima using the indicated appointment system. Always review the current procedure before requesting and preparing documents.
Records with errors or judicial registration
If the record contains errors, the Embassy indicates that they must be rectified before submitting the application. When the registration was ordered judicially, the official letter with the corresponding resolution, legalized, apostilled and translated, may also be required.
