The marriage must be transcribed
When the marriage was celebrated outside Italy, it must be previously transcribed in an Italian Comune. The application for citizenship requires that the marriage bond or civil union continue in force.
Document issued by the Commune
For the application, a copy of the marriage certificate or the summary extract of the marriage registry issued by the Italian Commune where it is registered is normally used. The Embassy indicates that a simple marriage certificate is not enough.
When is the foreign document translated?
If it is necessary to first regularize the transcription or justify data differences, the Peruvian record may be required, apostilled and translated into Italian. Name or surname change documents may also be requested.
Check at the end of the procedure
After the decree, a recent Italian comprehensive certificate and the corresponding foreign certificate can be requested to verify that there is no legal separation or divorce.
